Spell Scroll System
All vanilla potions are replaced by Spell Scrolls — stackable consumable items crafted at the Scroll Workstation using Reagents. Brewing stands do not exist in Eryndal. Every scroll is a compressed piece of spell knowledge from the Arcane Mages' practical legacy.
Scrolls replace all potions entirely. Vanilla brewing stands, glass bottles, and potion items are removed. The Scroll Workstation is a custom block adjacent to Rhael's workshop. Any player can craft a Common scroll, but higher tiers require Artificer profession investment.
Scrolls are stackable — unlike vanilla potions. Common stacks to 16, Refined 12, Potent 8, Masterwork 4, Ancient 2. This fundamentally changes the economy: scrolls trade as bulk commodities, not individual items.
Void scrolls and the Severance: Carrying void scrolls does NOT trigger Severance enchant deactivation — only equipped void-enchanted items do. Using a void scroll in front of Severance NPCs may trigger hostile dialogue.
Scroll Tiers
Tier determines potency, duration, and Artificer level requirement. The Workstation rejects recipes the assembling player doesn't qualify for.

Delivery Types
Every scroll has a base delivery type baked into the recipe. Delivery modifiers convert a Self scroll into Focused, Splash, or Lingering at crafting time.

Healing scrolls: Self or Focused only — no Splash or Lingering (indiscriminate healing is wasteful by Arcane Mage doctrine).
Debuffs and void scrolls: Cannot be Self — you cannot Wither Curse yourself intentionally.
Arcane damage scrolls: Cannot be Lingering — seam rupture zones were intentionally excluded from persistent form.
Scroll Workstation
Custom crafting block in the Arcane Sanctum, adjacent to Rhael's workshop. One exists in the Nexus at launch. Guild housing Workstations available to Artificer 50+ (requires Ancient Timber + Arcane Crystal Dust + components).
Three-slot custom GUI: Reagent A, Reagent B, Delivery Modifier (optional). Shows recipes the player currently qualifies for based on Artificer level. Invalid combinations show an error.
Required for every scroll — crafted from 4 Paper + 1 Arcane Crystal Dust. Any player can craft it. Common = x1, Refined = x2, Potent = x3, Masterwork = x4, Ancient = x5. A consistent Silver sink.

Base reagents grown in Farmer workplots. Non-Farmers occasionally find wild specimens via Pathfinder but not in quantity. The backbone of the scroll economy.

Economy Notes
The scroll system creates a multi-stage economy: Farmers grow base reagents, Pathfinders gather wild reagents, mob drops add a combat supply loop, and Artificers craft scrolls for market sale via Guild chest shops or Tane.
Base reagents (Sunpetal, Moonvine, Bloodroot, Deepmoss) are renewable bulk commodities. A high-level Farmer produces them in volume; a high-level Artificer converts them into scrolls. The scroll economy's health depends on both professions staying active. This is the primary intended crafting loop for Common and Refined tiers.
Vanilla potions don't stack. Scrolls stack to 16 (Common). A stack of 16 Mend scrolls is a standard trade unit. Guild chest shops will price scrolls per-unit with bulk discounts. The Merchant profession's Silver Sense passive applies to scroll sales — dedicated Merchants earn more from the scroll market than anyone else.
Convergence Residue (D2), Void Core Fragment (world bosses), and Purification Dust (Severance bosses) are the primary scarcity chokepoints. These reagents cannot be farmed — they require active boss participation. This gives world boss runs a clear crafting payoff beyond equipment drops.
Tane sells Common scrolls (Mend, Sight, Feather Ward, Fortify, Warding Scroll) from standard inventory at a markup. Does not stock Refined or above. Merchant Access (level 30) occasionally includes a Refined scroll. Players who want Potent+ must source from Artificers — keeping the high-tier scroll economy fully player-driven.
Ashfern (Farmer 50+) and Voidbloom (Farmer 100) are the only farmable void-type reagents. All void and debuff scrolls above Common tier require them. A Farmer 100 who cultivates Voidbloom holds a genuine market monopoly on Life Draw and the highest-tier void scroll components. Expect these to be among the most valuable raw commodities on the server.
Feasibility Notes
Implemented via ItemsAdder (custom block model) with GUI managed by the custom crafting plugin. Three-slot interface: Reagent A, Reagent B, Delivery Modifier. Recipe database maps reagent combinations to scroll outputs — config-driven so recipes can be added without a plugin rebuild.
Focused: ProjectileLaunchEvent + ProjectileHitEvent with custom entity class. Splash AoE: radius entity check on impact, apply effects to qualifying targets. Lingering: custom entity with periodic effect tick checking nearby entities every 3 seconds. Recommend a generic delivery system where each scroll registers its effect logic and delivery type separately to avoid code duplication across 41 scroll types.
On Splash impact, iterate entities in radius and check team membership. Positive effects apply only to caster's team. Negative effects apply only to non-teammates. Standard team tag check against BetonQuest-managed team assignments.
On use: check if caster has Void Terrain Mastery flag in player data. If yes, skip the 2-heart self-damage. If no, apply damage to caster. The flag check must be a fast player data lookup, not an inventory scan — add it to the player session object on login.
Registered as a custom ItemsAdder item with a specific NBT tag so the Workstation can validate its presence distinctly from regular paper. Crafting recipe (4 Paper + 1 Arcane Crystal Dust) registered in the custom crafting system.
Custom crop blocks via ItemsAdder. Growth conditions (void soil, Farmer level gate) require a BlockGrowEvent listener that validates the grower's Farmer proficiency before allowing growth completion. Same pattern as Primordial Node mining gate. Voidbloom's "any zone" ability at Farmer 100 requires overriding the soil-type check for that player specifically.
All vanilla brewing stands must be removed or blocked from use. ItemsAdder can replace the brewing stand block model with a decorative non-functional prop. All vanilla potion recipes must be disabled in the crafting system. Any existing vanilla potion items in world containers should be replaced during world load or via a migration script.
